Looking mighty fine again at Evans bay Marina
Little Seal at Evans Bay Wellington
This morning the seal at Evans Bay was still a bit sleepy and let me video him.
This seal has been around the bay for at least 3 months now and it looks like it is here to stay may be even for the summer where they usually all go to colder places.
Kekeno (New Zealand fur seal) are the most common seals in New Zealand waters.
Kekeno are very good swimmers and weaned pups will turn up almost anywhere around New Zealand. A fur seal pup tagged on the west coast of South Island has even been recorded in Australia. On land they sometimes become disoriented and have been found in unusual places such as back-yards, drains and streets.

Oyster
As the story goes, ‘he was a bold man that first ate an oyster’.
Bold and then astonishingly happy, I imagine, as is there anything more seductive than a freshly shucked oyster? More rewarding than the crunch of a deep-fried oyster? More soothing than velvety chowder finished with a lick of butter?
In food truck style, Oyster will pop up every evening (except Mon 13 Aug) to pay homage to the beguiling bivalve. Add to the tale perfectly chilled Wairarapa wines, the capital’s most irreverent craft brews, Hardie Boys ginger beer, Six Barrel soda, a bushel of the country’s finest chefs to deal with six kinds of oysters nightly, and you have a shucking good time on your hands.
Yellow Brick Road’s Oyster will be gone in the blink of an eye so be ready to embrace your inner briny.

Hi I am Marco and I moved to New Zealand in 2007 together with my wife Lena and daughter Angelique. And of course the first thing you do in a new country is find out what there is to do. Well in New Zealand there is a lot to do and of all the things that there are to do in New Zealand I will report on this website.
